<p>The Aesthetics Crossovers of Art and Science VISA2214 (6 or 12 points)</p>
<p>This Unit is a practical and theoretical investigation, through critical engagement, of the nexus and differences of the art and science cultures through the use of the technologies of life sciences/biotechnology as an art form. The unit is run through SymbioticA: the Art and Science Collaborative Research Laboratory.</p>
<p>Themes explored will include the culture of the artist and scientist; the sole genius versus the lab team; creative thinking and the system of hypothesis, control and experimentation; history and philosophy of science; genohype and examples of art and science collaborations in art history. International artists in residence at SymbioticA will contribute to the unit. Field days to observe where art and science cross over will be included and practical skills of the laboratory will be learnt resulting in an art project or prototype.</p>
<p>Students from all disciplines are encouraged to enrol to include diverse discussions and skill sharing.</p>

<p>THE BODY NAVIGATION is a cross-art festival for research the body as a medium for contemporary arts. Festival program provides collaboration with people coming from different cultural contexts, based on shared specific questions of the body and environment, and their multi-media exploration.</p>
<p>This year festival focuses on the issue of the perception of the body by new information technologies. HUMAN-INFORMATION WORKSPACE<br />
&#038;</p>
<p>dance and technology  choreography  performance  installations  virtual environments  realtime processing The submitted project focuses on the integrated body and its medial &#8220;embodiment&#8221; in dance performances, installations, or performances. The transposition is using suitable interfaces and software (f.i. camera motion sensing-systems), which allow for the real time inter/action/exploration of physical movement with audio/visual processes.</p>
<p>Festival will navigate from the urban environments of St.Petersburg and Kronshtadt to the theatre and musical club spaces.</p>
<p>Festival events include research projects and workshops, in and outdoor performances, audiovisual performances and screenings. 1-6 of July will be organized international MediaLab.<br />
&#038;</p>
<p>MediaLab invites artists who research and work on /Technology and musical performance/Computers and music/ Dance and media / Performance and music/</p>
<p>Organizer of the festival is non-commercial partnership «ART NAVIGATION».</p>
<p>Submissions for the festival program and MediaLab should include: Viewing copy and / or supporting material on DVD or VHS Description of performance/project. Other relevant materials [press, photos, and promotional materials, technical information. Deadline to submit proposals by e-mail is 20th of February, 2008. And last day of getting documents by post is 10th of March, 2008.</p>
<p>Artists will need to consider travel, accommodation and visa costs, and to seek financial support from local funding sources. <p>Do you want to use the most advanced computer facilities in WA?</p>
<p>iVEC, the hub of advanced computing in WA, is searching for students who are ready to challenge themselves through our student internship program. We will give you access to high performance computing, visualisation and rendering facilities, large-scale data storage and high speed communications.</p>
<p>Applications are welcome from all fields and disciplines including:</p>
<p>art, digital content, visualisation and rendering,</p>
<p>social science, health, humanities, business</p>
<p>as well as</p>
<p>computational science, engineering, geology, geophysics,</p>
<p>chemistry, physics, astronomy, bioinformatics</p>
<p>Internships will run for approximately 12 weeks during the period December through February, although dates and exact length of the internship are negotiable. The award is for up to $8,000 per student, dependent on the length of the project.</p>
<p>The 2007/2008 round is now open, enquiries should be directed to education@ivec.org.</p>
