*Digital Directions Award*
Purpose:
ScreenWest’s Digital Directions 2007 award aims to provide
development, research and/or travel assistance to newer, and
established, drama and factual writers who are hoping to explore the
potential of digital content creation and distribution.
Eligibility:
This award is intended for film and television practitioners and
non-traditional media creators with imaginative projects utilising
interactive story-telling, mobile video streaming, multimedia
messaging, web presence, gaming or other emerging media. Projects that
extend the traditional boundaries of single-platform drama and factual
programs (including documentary programs) are especially sought.
Applicants must have completed a four page treatment, a brief budget
and a synopsis. It is also important that mention is made of the
interactive potential for the cross-platform project from the point of
view of the intended final user.
Projects that are based on an already existing property (such as
factual programs, documentary, short film, animation, etc) will be at
an advantage but will not be a pre-requisite.
Please note that Digital Directions 2007 is not intended as a
production investment scheme but is aimed specifically at assisting
writers, developers and/or producers to explore possible development
and future marketing avenues for their projects.
As with all Creative Development schemes, Digital Directions 2007 is
only open to filmmakers resident in Western Australia. Please refer to
the General Guidelines for a definition of WA residency.
Assessment Process:
Specially convened Panels, comprising of ScreenWest staff and industry
representatives with relevant digital content expertise, will consider
applications. The Panels make recommendations that are then referred
to the Chief Executive for approval.
Applications for the Digital Directions 2007 award will be shortlisted
and selected applicants invited to be interviewed.
One successful applicant will then be awarded the $6,000 Digital
Directions 2007 funding package to enable them to develop, research or
travel to and participate at a nationally or internationally
recognised digital media conference or workshop/attachment (depending
on the nature of the project and the intended final platform).
As with all Creative Development schemes, Digital Directions is only
open to filmmakers/creators resident in Western Australia. See the
General Guidelines for Western Australian Residency definitions.
Closing Dates:

30 2007. For further details, contact Victor Gentile at ScreenWest
