It’s a short written piece which is related to both my electives in accordance to the theme of ‘Fact, Fiction and Feeling’. However, the way in which this piece of writing relates to my video and edited pictures is very subtle… I still have a long way with the learning of interfaces and fusing it with my video work as well.
Ticking in unison, same hour, same minute, same second, the sound is harmonious but it never stops. Everything is moving in fast motion, everything is moving too quickly; I want time to stand still, the strong urgency that it needs to stop, but it never will.
They keep ticking, you hear them, ‘Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock’; their sounds resound from room to room. It keeps rushing, keeps moving forward, ephemeral moments of time shortly lived. The people walk past me in such a hurry, the cars drive faster and faster, the sound of the traffic, the sound of people, the noise of the city invades my mind. The microwave, the VCR, the hour glass in the family room; all silent indicators of time.
The ticking irritates me; the sound of time never stopping. We all move forward, we all age; we all change. Time surrounds my head in a loop; it never ends and it never will. All moments of time become memory; a fact, which slowly transitions to fiction by the deterioration of our knowledge. The feelings that once related to this become skewed, manipulated, dissipated.
